Thankful Thursday--- Blessings

This week has opened my eyes to so many blessings.
Blessings that I witness on a daily basis but am to caught up in the now to recognize them.

....for the opportunity to worship Christ in public. A girl in my small group talked about how her sister served over seas and had to hide when they worshiped and as she came back to the states she cried during her first service where 100's of people gathered and worshiped. What a great blessing I take for granted each Sunday.

.... for my amazing students. Tomorrow is the last day of school and while the last week of school is always the longest I am going to miss their smiling faces in two weeks when I get a whole group of new 6th grade babies :)

....for my husband. The Lord has blessed me with a great one and while our marriage is no where near perfect, we are learning to show more grace to each other each day and I can see the impact it makes daily. Showing love like Jesus is hard but the benefits are so great.

....for Kids Week. I am so glad the Summit is reaching out to kids all over the Triangle this year and that Andrew and I get to serve. We come home exhausted and so tired but I love that we are sharing the Gospel with our future :)

....For Grace. I am not a perfect person, but I have a perfect Savior. The grace and forgivness I have recieved is more than I can ever put into words. I am thankful for forgiveness during my times of weakness.

What are you thankful for?

Washington DC-- Day One

Better late than never!
I am finally going to re-cap our D.C Trip:)
We had such a blast! I have been to DC many times being a teacher but this trip was so different. I didn't have to count heads, get lunches for others, make straight lines, etc. I could just sit back, relax and actually enjoy our nations capital:)

We spent a good portion of the day driving but it was a Saturday so the traffic wasn't to bad:)
We always say we are going to get Cooper some dog valleum for car ride but never do but since this ride was more than the normal 2.5 hours home I really wish we would have!
When we arrived we got to the cute little flat we rented for the week and it was just perfect. If you ever are looking for a better alternative to hotel vacationing this is it!

We relaxed and explored DuPont for a little bit before finally getting ready for dinner in Old Towne Alexandria. We were going to do a Ghost Tour but it was rainy so we opted out.

In our house dessert is a must after dinner. I mean I don't care how good your food is you stop eating so you can eat dessert! We found the cutest little fro-yo shop called yogato.I mean really they had old school Nintendo for you to play and all these cool ways to get discounts. We got our fro-yo and played a game of trouble.

Finally after a long day we headed back to the place to relax with the pupsters before another full day of adventures!

From our kitchen to yours: Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps

So I love to cook.
And not because I am this inspiring chef but because at our house we love to eat.
We aren't the type of house that has rotating meals or eats one thing on a daily basis because if we did we would instantly be going for take out.

One of Andrew's newest favs are these Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps
I have seen different versions of these floating all over pinterest so here is our take :)

1lb of chicken breast
1 can of low sodium chicken broth
1/2 of an onion
Celery
Franks original red hot
Carrots
Ranch
Bib Lettuce

Directions:
Place chicken, broth, 1 celery stick and onions in the crockpot
Cook chicken in the crockpot on low for 8 hours
Drain out the broth and put in as much red hot as your would like and cook on low for 1/2 hour.
(we put about a cup)
Place chicken in the lettuce wrap and top with celery, carrots, blue cheese and ranch :)
We serves ours with a side of fries and honestly everyone on instagram was asking what brand so I wanted to tell you we live off these Alexia Sweet Potato Fries

Our Favorites are the waffle fries and the spicy fries :)

Graduation Weekend :)

Graduation season is officially over!
A few weekends ago we went home to watch my sister graduate high school!
It made me so sad to see her growning up and can't believe she will be off to college next year.

Her graduation was on a Tuesday so Andrew and I took off a few days of work to spend some time with our families ( the two days I missed were EOG testing days and with all the stress that brings I was glad to be gone)

And before I left to head back to Raleigh I got to spend one more day with this chunky muffin :)

I can't believe she will be one in August!!

We own a needy dog

So where have I been you ask?
That is a good freaking question.
If you follow me on instagram you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth but my time at home has been so slim I just haven't had the time to blog.

This weekend Andrew and I had plans to hangout and do some fun "us" stuff.
Well all we had to do was take Cooper to his annual vet appointment and then we would have a weekend just to ourselves. No friends, no families, just us enjoying each others company.

Well at the end of the appoint we were joking with our vet how this was the first visit we have ever had with cooper where something isn't wrong.(If you haven't followed for long Cooper has eaten plenty of wire, cords, poblano peppers ect which make for interesting and expensive appts) We laughed, paid our bill, loved on cooper and left.

We get home take a shower and get ready for our day and the next thing we know Coopers face is 2x's its normal size :(

We call the vet and low and behold he had an allergic reaction to one of the vaccines and he has to be monitored :(
Poor thing has been on a benadryl diet and so uncomfortable all weekend.
So needless to say our weekend was instantly changed to take care of our sweet pup but its okay cause he was so snuggly all weekend!

His face is still a little swollen but he's a million times better :)
